Fire extinguishers are always a legal requirement in all buildings that are open to the public. This is the case for shops, restaurants, museums, hotels, B&Bs, offices, industrial areas, production areas, events (also temporarily), as well as student houses and apartment buildings.
Fire extinguishers are not required by law in your private home. However, they are recommended to protect you optimally against fire.
Check out the article "How many and which fire extinguishers do I need?" in our advice centre for more information about the required fire extinguishers.
