A fire extinguisher that you use in a professional context or in apartment buildings is not allowed by law to be placed on the ground unsupported. This is usually stated in the local police code, among other things. A fire extinguisher must be suspended at a maximum height of 1 metre or secured to a floor stand.
Below you will find some reasons why this is the case.
- People using an escape route can easily see the fire extinguisher.
- It ensures that the fire extinguisher cannot be knocked over/damaged.
- It also helps to prevent possible corrosion at the foot of the fire extinguisher.
